Chalking on the boards at the Eagles Hall, two Eagles Hall teams got together for thirty-three games of darts last Tuesday night. Getting off to a winning start, the home team, Eagle Eyes, bested the away team, Double Eagles in three doubles matches. That is where the dominance ended and the Double Eagles slowly caught up to their opponents. The final set saw the Eagle Eyes pluck the winning point away from the Double Eagles. Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, John Coulter and Heath Mahoney each won four of their five singles matches. Heath topped the scores with a 140 and 7 100’s. Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Alan Barry was nearly unbeatable, losing only one of his five matches. Captain Toni Crompton topped the team scores with at 140.

Playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Short Sighted Crew hosted the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows for an evening of fun and competition. The home team was steadily gaining points throughout the match, but a couple of sets belonged almost solely to their opponents. It was the final set where the Straight Arrows surged ahead of the home team. Leading the wins for the Arrows, Ron Keast doubled out four of his five singles matches. Teammate Poul Reimer won three matches with scores of 125, 123 and 100 and achieved team high score for the match. Leading the wins for the home team crew, Peter Bisiker doubled out for of his five singles matches, and pin the team high score of 156, landing him in the number one spot for men’s high score of the season.

Illness struck down both teams scheduled to play at the Parksville Legion – the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls and the QB Legion Shooters had to postpone their match due to several players poor health.

The Eagles Hall X-Men welcomed the Parksville Legion Dart Legends to a rousing and fun night of darts at the Eagles Hall. The teams see-sawed back and forth with wins and losses, leaving the match tied 16 to 16 by the final night of the match. Despite best efforts from Dart Legend’s, Jolene Swanson, X-Men Fraser Vincent doubled out before her, sealing the win for the home team. X-Men Jim Thompson, Pony Moore and Fraser were the top scorers, all getting four wins in six matches. Jim was dumbfounded by the loss of his first two matches, gave his head a shake and finished first in his remaining games. He had no less than three top scores of 140, a feat also achieved by teammate Duane Sharp. Dart Legend, Rod Swindells, was in fine form, not only besting his former teammate, Jim Thompson, but three other X-Men in the course of the evening. Kevin Gillingham was a wire away from hitting a 180, but achieved the high score of the night with a 123.

Stepping up to the oche at the Parksville Legion, the Bristle Bashers met with the Morningstar Triples for a brisk night of darts. The Morningstar Triples threw their best darts and were able to take seven wins away from their opponents, with Triple Darren Tabler besting two of the Basher and hitting a team high score of 121. Four of the Bashers left the Legion undefeated at the end of the night – Terry Strawson, Steve Collins, Ken Hayes and Warren Potter. Steve topped the scores with a 140, 121 and 100.
