Round Two Week Three Highlights

Writer: Jolene SwansonJolene Swanson

This week’s games were a bit of a runaway for three of the matches.  Here’s how it all played out.

A-Division:

Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Bristle Bashers hosted the Eagles Hall X-Men to a stomping at the oche.  The home team dominated the doubles and the away team didn’t score another point until the eighth singles match when Duane Sharp bested Steve Collins, a bit of a David and Goliath situation happened there.  The home team continued their onslaught, with Ken Hayes and Warren Potter topping the scores with six wins in six matches and Ken and Terry Strawson pinning a 140 each to earn team high score for the night.  The X-Men struggled throughout the match, with Pony Moore earning top score with two wins in six matches.  Jim Thompson earned high scores of 135 and 100x2.

Over at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows welcomed the QB Legion Shooters to a well-fought but unsuccessful match for the home team.  Leading the wins for the Straight Arrows, Mike Beno bested three of his six opponents and teammate, Poul Reimer, recorded the only score above 99, hitting a 100 in his match with Larry MacDonald.  Leading the wins for the Shooters, Thom Ford was in his finest form, winning six of six matches and adding his third 177 to the Leader Board.  Captain Lorraine Paquette had an 83 out, good out but not enough to beat her 84 out already on the Leader Board.

B-Division:

Playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Short Sighted Crew met with the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes for thirty-three games of darts.  Taking the lead early, the home team Crew dominated four of the six singles sets 4-1, taking double the number of games as their opponents in the end.  Leading the wins for the Crew was a four-way tie of four wins in five matches between Captain Don Punter, Peter Bisiker, Jo Metz and Mike Runsteader.  Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, John Coulter pulled three wins away from his five opponents.  Heath Maloney hit the high score of 140 to top the scores for the team last Tuesday.

Filling up the rest of the boards at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles matched skills with the Morningstar Triples for a fun night of darts.  The home team took two of the three doubles before the Morningstar Triples found their footing in the first set of singles when they won four of the five games.  The wins see-sawed back and forth and at the start of the final singles set the score was 13 to 15 for the Triples.  Alan and Sue Barry successfully bested two of the Triples, but their wins weren’t enough to take them over the line.  Captain Toni Crompton pinned a 121 in the doubles match to top the team scores for the night.  Sue Barry was truly on fire, winning four of her five singles games.  Leading the wins for the Morningstar Triples, Jim Hood proved unbeatable in his four matches, hitting scores of 140, 135, 117 & 110 along the way, garnering him high scorer for the team as well.
