A-Division:

Getting together at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall X-Men invited the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls to thirty-three turns at the oche.  Normally a strong team, the X-Men were short a key player and failed to find many doubles until the fourth set of the match.  Leading the wins for the X-Men, Pony Moore was successful against four of his six opponents and hit scores of 132 and 107 throughout the night.  Rob Sparrow threw several good scores – 108, 115, 133 and 134 – to top the team scores on Tuesday night.  Leading the wins for the Respect-A-Bulls was a three-way tie between Joe Fortune, Tom Ayley and Rob Shaw, all bringing four wins in five matches to the team total.  Spare extraordinaire, Darcy Guenette, topped the scores for the Respect-A-Bulls pinning a 134 in his doubles match with partner, Anita Hopps.

The most anticipated match of Round Two A-Division happened at the Qualicum Legion this past week. The QB Legion Shooters hosted Bristle Bashers at their home venue and the match didn’t go as the home team planned, I’m sure.  The scores were fairly close through the first four sets, but a whitewash in the fifth set and four to one wins in the sixth and seventh set for the Bashers sealed their win by the end of the match.  Leading the wins for the home team Shooters, Larry MacDonald kept his cool and bested four of his six opponents.  Larry elevated his Leader Board standing by eight spots, now sitting at #5 with a high out of 111.  The Paquettes, Rocky and Lorraine, scored matching 140’s to top the team scores for the night.   Leading the wins for the Bashers was also a three-way tie for Terry Strawson, Ken Hayes and Ryan Lane, all winning five of their six singles.  Ryan added his name to the league high scores, joining team mate Warren Potter with a notable 171 score.

B-Division:

Filling up the rest of the boards at the Qualicum Legion, the Morningstar Triples hosted fellow Qualicum team The Short Sighted Crew to a competitively match of darts.  While the lead in the match ping-ponged back and forth between the two teams throughout the seven sets, the match was tied 16 to 16 with the final game of the night being the match decider.  No doubt both Triple Tom Rodger and Crew’s Don Punter felt the pressure as both teams cheered on their team mates.  It was Tom Rodger who pulled in the win, his third of the night, to clinch the match for the Triples.  Leading the wins for the Morningstar Triples, Jim Hood, lost only to Crew member Peter Bisiker in his five singles.  Dynamo Denise Tabler threw well above her field of vision and pinned a 140 to top the team scores for the team.  Peter Bisiker was the high scorer for the Crew, losing only to newbie Brody Jenkinson, in his six trips to the toe-line.  Peter also pinned two 140’s in his match against Keith Reimer to earn team high score for the evening.

Back at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles welcomed the Parksville Legion Dart Legends to a fiercely competitive night of darts.  After the Dart Legends outplayed the Double Eagles in the final match of Round One, they were caught off guard by the Double Eagles vigorous doubling out in all three of the doubles, followed by them dominating sets two through four.  The Legends regained their composure in the fifth set, produced a whitewash in the sixth set and volleyed for wins in the final set.  Like the Triples and the Short Sighted Crew, this match was tied 16 to 16 when the final game of the night commenced.  Despite having a fall earlier in the day and bruising his right wrist and hand, Dart Legend Dave Edwards persevered and, using his special doubling out darts, pinned a double to win the game and the match for the Parksville Legion Dart Legends.  Way to go Dave!  Leading the wins for the home team, Captain Toni Crompton and Alan Barry shared the top spot, both winning three of their five singles.  Pat Bannister hit a 118 to top the team scores for the night.  Leading the wins for a third week in a row, Dart Legend Ken Ermantrout was undefeated in four of his five singles games and hitting scores of 112 and 106 along the way.  Team mate Rod Swindells hit a whopping 130 in his doubles match with partner Kevin Gillingham.
