Round 2 Week 4 Dart Action

Writer: Jolene SwansonJolene Swanson

A-Division:

Playing at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall X-Men hosted fellow Eagle team, Straight Arrows to a well-fought match of darts.  With a stumbling start on the doubles, the X-Men failed to find their footing at the oche until the final two sets.  The Straight Arrows had double the wins of the home team, when the X-Men had a burst of successful doubles in the last two sets.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite soon and strong enough to push past the Straight Arrows lead.  Leading the wins for the X-Men was a three way tie for Pony Moore, Rob Sparrow and Fraser Vincent, all winning three of their six singles matches.  Pony pinned a 121 near the end of the match to obtain team high score for the night.   Leading the wins for the Straight Arrows, Mike Beno (who is also hawking bootleg homemade hooch on our members only page if you are interested) was undefeated in his five singles games.  Captain Sonja Twamley can boast top score for the team with a 130 shot in her doubles match with Pat Spinks as a partner.

Gathering at the Parksville Legion, the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls played home to the Bristle Bashers away on Tuesday night.  The Bashers flexed their double prowess through the doubles and five of the six singles sets, barely allowing their opponents to score.  Leading the wins for the Legion Respect-A-Bulls, the tall Tom Ayley sailed his darts into the double first in three of his six singles games.  Rob Shaw scored a whopping 150 in three darts against his opponent, Basher Ryan Lane.  Leading the wins for the Bashers, Terry Strawson and Ken Hayes were again unbeatable in their five singles games.  Ryan was team high scorer for the night, hitting several 100’s as well as 140 twice.

Filling up the rest of their home boards at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles welcomed the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes to thirty-three games of chucking arrows.  Despite a strong start by the Eagle Eyes, who won all three of the doubles matches, the Double Eagles resolutely chipped away at their opponents lead, gathering points as the night progressed.  Again, a case of too little too late for the Double Eagles, giving the Eagle Eyes the match in the end.   Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Alan Barry successfully doubled out three of his four matches and everyone’s favourite Newfie, Pat Bannister, earned top scores for the team hitting a 124 and a 127 in the same match (and defeating his opponent, John Coulter in the process).  It was a three-way tie for Eagle Eye Colleen Mahoney, Heath Mahoney and Captain Harry Van Heerwaarden, all bringing in four wins each in five singles games.

Squeezed into the corner of the Parksville Legion darts hall, the Parksville Legion Dart Legends hosted the Morningstar Triples to a competitively played dart match.  Struggling to assert their dominance in the doubles or the first singles set, the home team found their flights in the second set and made up the lost ground.  The match was tied 14-14 at the start of the final singles set, when the Dart Legends dug deep and doubled out four of the five matches to take the lead.  Dart Legend Ken Ermantrout showed his prowess in scores and wins, hitting two 134’s throughout the night and winning all five of his singles matches.  Team mate, Rod Swindells, was no slouch either, losing only to Triple Jim Hood by the end of the night. Leading the wins for the Triples was shared between Tom Rodgers, Jim Hood and Brody Jenkinson, each bringing three wins in six singles to the total team score.  Keith Reimer won two matches and earned team high score with a 140 scored in the winning doubles match with partner, Brody.
